Eva Kerek works within a narrative painting tradition.
Stubborn and almost pig-headed she does not seem to give a damn about the criticism that claims that this tradition should be exhausted. On the contrary in her work the story is constantly reborn, as is the story about painting in an obvious desire for a language and a way of expression.
To her, painting is not an idea or a thought translated to painting but a way of life and an understanding that shows itself in the actual act of painting – in a language and a thinking that IS painting.
It is rare and peculiar- and a pleasure to see.
